Insieme possiamo creare immagini di pace e di gioia, immagini del presente per il mondo di domani!<\/strong><\/p>\n Elephants for Peace \u00e8 un\u2019associazione artistica ong impegnata a organizzare a livello globale delle manifestazioni culturali di vario tipo, tra cui laboratori didattici di pittura, mostre, conferenze e festival finalizzate alla promozione della cultura della pace.<\/p>\n Rose Marie Gnausch, artista e storica d\u2019arte tedesca fondatrice di Elephants for Peace, mette al centro del suo progetto la riflessione sul tema della convivenza tollerante tra culture diverse, da realizzarsi ricorrendo agli strumenti dell\u2019arte e alla creazione di un nuovo simbolo di pace, l\u2019elefante, che ambisca a essere condiviso universalmente.<\/p>\n Perch\u00e9 l\u2019elefante? La scelta del pachiderma \u00e8 legata alla sua natura mansueta e imponente, che lo porta a essere rispettato dalle altre specie animali e a vivere armoniosamente con l\u2019habitat circostante. Nelle intenzioni di Rose Marie Gnausch, la pace dovrebbe essere rappresentata simbolicamente da un\u2019immagine che trasmetta al contempo forza e tolleranza: il partner simbolico ideale \u00e8 proprio l\u2019elefante, animale connotato positivamente in molte culture orientali e africane, al quale si \u00e8 solito attribuirgli le virt\u00f9 umane della saggezza, della fedelt\u00e0 e dell\u2019imparzialit\u00e0.<\/p>\n Profondamente segnata dalla divisione che la Germania aveva vissuto per oltre 40 anni, Rose Marie Gnausch matur\u00f2 nel tempo l\u2019idea di proporre un\u2019azione efficace che facesse riflettere sulla possibilit\u00e0 di andare oltre le divisioni politiche e ideologiche attraverso la creazione di un progetto artistico comune. Rose Marie Gnausch, artist and art historian, founder of Elephants for Peace, puts at the center of his project the reflection on the issue of tolerant coexistence between different cultures, that is to be achieved through the use of art tools and the creation of a new symbol of peace, the elephant, which aspires to be shared universally.<\/p>\n Why the elephant? The choice of the elephant is linked to its gentle and imposing nature, which leads him to be respected by other animals and to live harmoniously with its surroundings. According to Rose Marie Gnausch, peace should be represented symbolically by an image that conveys at the same time strength and tolerance: the ideal symbol of these two qualities is, indeed, the elephant, positively considered in many Eastern and African cultures, which usually attribute to it the virtues of wisdom, loyalty and impartiality.<\/p>\n Deeply marked by the division that Germany had lived for over 40 years, Rose Marie Gnausch understood the urgency of \u200b\u200bproposing an effective action to make people overcome political and ideological differences, through the creation of a common artistic project. What at first only seemed an ambitious dream, was realized in 2009 thanks to a collective action at the checkpoint in Nicosia, emblem of the division of Cyprus: along the borders separating the Greek territory from the Turkish side, divers art works representing elephants were exhibited, to symbolic represent the need of a peaceful dialogue between the two realities.<\/p>\n The event in Nicosia \u2013 which saw the participation of many volunteers and which allowed the meeting of the political representatives of the two divided parts \u2013 was followed by many other events in several European countries, including, to name a few, Schengen, Berlin, O\u015bwi\u0119cim , Marseille and Sarajevo.<\/p>\n All these events have in common a participatory character, since anyone can give a symbolic contribution to the project through the creation of a work of art representing an elephant, ambassador of reconciliation and tolerance.<\/p>\n Through the symbol of the elephant, Elephants for Peace wants to give voice to the desire for peace animating children, young people, adults and seniors, thus overcoming the linguistic, cultural, generational, gender and religion differences.<\/p>\n You too can contribute to spreading a message of peace: make your elephant using images, sculpture or any other visual representation means.
